Support Access to Recreation and the New "Possibility Piers"

Two of the universally accessible fishing piers are now open to the public and the third in Champaign's Kaufman Park will be completed by March 2010. The structures at Urbana's Crystal Lake Park and Champaign Forest Preserve District's River Bend are spacious and include benches, tackle box tables and shade structures. Partial funding for this project was provided to the Community Foundation by a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. This very generous grant includes a matching challenge component of $134,000 to build an endowment that will sustain and expand recreational activities for people of all abilities.
